When drugs don’t work

If the treatment you are on does not control your pain or causes uncomfortable side effects, you or your doctor may consider other options. Usually, pain therapy with an implantable system or an operation are only considered when pain relieving medicines don’t work and/or lead to intolerable side-effects. Implantable systems relieve pain either through electrical stimulation or by introducing pain relieving drugs into the intrathecal space.
