Corrective surgery

Corrective surgery is usually considered only after other treatments have failed, unless the cause of your chronic pain is physical, such as one of the spinal discs irritating a nerve or scar tissue blocking the bowel.  An operation may relieve the problem. But there is a risk of permanently damaging other sensations (such as light touch and temperature sensation) or causing a different pain.
